Some days the autistic half wants the routine and the ADHD half has already left the building. Holding two answers to most questions, and being right about both of them. Care
- Wash
- By hand, in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Machine washing can pull the crown out of shape and damage the stitching.
- Dry
- Air dry in shape. Not in the dryer.
- Iron
- No — and never over the stitching.
- Bleach
- No.
- Expect
- The distressed finish is deliberate, and it softens further with washing. Spot-clean with a damp cloth between washes.
Good to know
- A new print can smell faintly of vinegar, or carry a pale mark from the pre-treatment. Both wash out.
- Keep it out of direct sunlight before that first wash — the pre-treatment can sun-stain, and that doesn’t come out.
- No fabric softener. It dulls the print.
- On embroidery, iron around the stitching rather than over it. We’ve washed ours repeatedly and they’ve held up.

These are the garment’s own measurements, not body sizes — and one maker’s medium isn’t another’s, so it’s worth a look before you choose. Soft fabrics never cut quite identically, so allow a little either way.
Adjustable at the back with a hook-and-loop strap. Measure round your head with a soft tape about 1 in (2.5 cm) above your ears.

A soft, unstructured six-panel cap in cotton twill, with a deliberately distressed brim and crown. Low profile, with no stiffening in the front panel, so it sits close and shapes to the head rather than standing up. Adjusts at the back to fit 19–22 in (48–56 cm).

Sensory notes
- Soft crown — no buckram stiffening in the front panel.
- Adjustable hook-and-loop strap at the back, which can catch on long hair.
- Distressed brim and crown, so the edges are frayed on purpose.
- Six sewn eyelets and six stitched rows on the brim.
- On an embroidered design, the reverse of the stitching has some texture inside.
